| Witchblade Synopsis |
Witchblade "Lagrimas" - Season 2, episode 7:
When a priest is cruelly murdered, Sara and Danny are called to the scene of the bizarre homicide. The investigation reveals that an unearthly killer is to blame and Sara seeks the help of Gabriel Bowman, who tells her of parallel killings that have occurred throughout history. Much to her surprise, Sara encounters the ghost of Kenneth Irons, who gives her cryptic clues about the murder. Meanwhile it's love at first sight when Sara meets the mysterious and handsome Daniel Germaine. But her perfect love turns into a perfect nightmare when a jealous Ian Nottingham "kills" Daniel in an effort to show Sara her lover's true nature. When Daniel fails to die from his mortal wounds, Sara realizes that she is dealing with a supernatural being. In fact Germaine is a man cursed to spend eternity bringing death to others while not being able to die himself. His one hope is that Sara and the Witchblade can end his torment. Faced with an impossible dilemma, Sara must kill the man she loves in order to free him from his living hell.
episode summary form Nottingham's Nymphs
In the beginning, we see Ian doing a balancing act among some timber that's among water, while a fire burns and people are gathered in the background. He seems to sense that Irons is there, and says "Father?" Irons speaks to him, telling him that there is an evil being who walks among them who may be able to be used to their advantage. Irons tells Ian he will find him only where he is not looking. Ian asks if he can bring Irons back, and Irons replies that he's "already back".
Later, in the morgue, Sara is hearing Irons' voice calling to her. She opens a box to find him, and he talks to her. She asks if Ian killed Father Horton. Irons says that he did not. Irons then tells Sara that he is jealous of her, because she is alive, and that the killer she searches for lusts for death the way he lusts for life. "He is death, and he has come."
Sara meets a man in a restaurant while waiting to use the bathroom. The two of them have instant sparks, and the man is one who we had been seeing in flashbacks to when Sara, in a previous life, was being burned at the stake. Outside the restaurant, the two of them share a kiss, and we see that Ian has been watching. He is visibly distraught by their kissing.
While Ian broods at Irons' place about Sara and her new love, Irons speaks to him. He tells Ian that he must stop their love, for Sara may be able to redeem him, and that would be contrary to their purposes. (See quotes below for the conversation)
After Sara and her love have a night of passion at her apartment and he is leaving, Ian approaches with a sword and slits his throat, leaving Sara's love for dead on the street. Sara screams "Nooo!" as she watches from the window above.
At the hospital, Sara is very upset about Daniel and waits for word of what is going on. A nurse approaches and shows Sara that Daniel's bed is empty. Sara asks where he is, and the nurse replies she thought Sara might know. Meanwhile, Danny has arrived, and Sara goes to him for comfort. They hug, and Irons starts to speak through Danny. He tells her that he will not let her win just because he's dead, and that her choice of lovers was hasty. She asks him where Ian is. He then tells Sara that the one she seeks is at the same pier where the Carpathia is moored. He also tells her she shares the same grief as Juliet, and he is enjoying it.
Once Sara finds out where the Carpathia is moored from Gabriel, she heads there on her motorcycle. When she arrives, she calls for Ian, but finds Daniel instead. She says she watched him die. He tells her that he's died 100 times, but has never found death because he is condemned to immortality. He also tells her that he is a beast and there is no atonement for the things he's done. He confesses to killing the Father, and tells her that if she loves him, she must kill him. Only the Witchblade can put him to rest, and death at her hands is his only chance at redemption. He tells her he had originally planned to kill those she loved to get her to kill him, but instead he fell in love with her. He continues to plead with her to kill him, until finally the Witchblade morphs into its sword form and, just as Irons before him, he impales himself on the blade.
