An Evening with Burn Notice

The Paley Center in LA will be hosting an “Evening with Burn Notice” on Thursday, May 13.

In USA Network’s Burn Notice, it’s never very quiet on the Westen front, as onetime covert agent Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan)—mysteriously blacklisted and exiled to his hometown of Miami—strives to solve the puzzle of who burned him and why, with the help of ex-girlfriend/arms dealer Fiona Glenanne and good friend ex-SEAL Sam Axe. Now gearing up for season four (kicking off in June), Burn Notice is an addictive blend of mystery, action, and fun; Chicago Tribune critic Maureen Ryan once summed it up: “Watching Burn Notice and eating candy—it’s getting hard to tell the difference between the two.”

Michael Westen wins RedEye’s Best TV Character tourney

Charlie Kelly just got burned.

Dayman, fighter of Nightman, didn’t have what it takes to beat super spy Michael Westen of USA’s “Burn Notice.”

“Boy, it’s going to be tough,” Charlie Day, who plays Kelly on FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” told me Thursday. “People love that guy from ‘Burn Notice.’ He’s great.” (More Charlie Day)

After 309,546 votes were cast in the final round, Westen, played by Jeffrey Donovan, topped Kelly 53 percent to 46 percent in RedEye’s TV Character Tournament. Donovan is currently in Florida filming his show and was unavailable for comment, but at around 12:30 a.m. CT Saturday he tweeted from @Jeffrey_Donovan.

“Want to thank all who voted. Just found out i won Best Character!! Probably the only award I will ever receive. :-) Thank you fans!!!”

The spectacular championship round swayed back and forth over 48 hours of polling, with Charlie pulling way ahead early, then falling behind. It was a 1- or 2-point battle all day Thursday. “Burn Notice” fans voted their man to the win late Thursday and Friday.

Westen beat John Casey of “Chuck,” Abed Nadir of “Community,” Stewie Griffin from “Family Guy” and Gemma Morrow from “Sons of Anarchy” to get to the finals. You can follow the tourney on the links below. Thanks for voting…so many times…
