Stargate SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”) will guest star in a four-episode story arc on the successful USA Network series Burn Notice, his official Web site is reporting.

Shanks will play Victor, described by Spoiler TV as “a spy who has been working for the Burn Notice Organization (BNO) for some time. A well-traveled operative, who’s seen and done it all, Victor is every bit Michael’s [series lead Jeffrey Donovan] equal when it comes to knowledge and ability. But while Michael has some regard for human life, Victor is a wild card, who has no qualms about leaving collateral damage in his wake. Victor encourages Michael to embrace his new life as a burned spy.”

Shanks’ first episode will be “Bad Blood,” the sixth of the new season — currently scheduled to air on August 14, according to Michael Shanks Online.

In the meantime, Stargate fans can catch Shanks in the upcoming movie Stargate: Continuum, on DVD and Blu-ray July 29.

Burn Notice stars Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless. The show returns with new episodes Thursday, July 10. Read more about the series at USA’s official site.

It’s a little difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys on USA’s “Burn Notice,” and that’s one of the things that make the character-driven thriller unique.

When star Jeffrey Donovan was cast as the spy who is driven in from the cold, he knew a lot about Bruce Campbell, who was to play his unkempt cohort, Sam.

“I knew of Bruce,” says Donovan. “I actually had heard about him through a friend of mine who knew him. So I knew just of him, but that’s not to say that I wasn’t a fan of his because I don’t actually know many actors – because I don’t go to the movies and I don’t watch television. But now that I’ve gotten to know him, I couldn’t ask for a better costar. And I’m sure actors say that all the time, but they’re lying. I know all of them. They’re lying. And this is the truth. You can’t ask for a better actor coming from his huge career, to come and grace us on this show has been just a blessing for us.”
